Green Day announce UK stadium tour 2010 gigs

Green Day's summer 2010 schedule is beginning to take shape as the band books not one, but two stadium dates in the United Kingdom.

US supergroup Green Day have announced details of a UK stadium tour to take place in June 2010.It is Green Day's first UK stadium shows since their two-night stand at Milton Keynes National Bowl in 2005.

Billie Joe Armstrong and co have just completed a UK arena tour and also played a tiny midnight show last night (1 November) at London's Garage venue under their alias Foxboro Hot Tubs.

The band famously played two huge gigs at Milton Keynes National Bowl in 2005 following the success of their album American idiot.

Lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong told NME.com: "Playing Wembley Stadium is kind of one of those moments in your career when you just go 'holy s**t!'"

"It's going to be great because Wembley has a long tradition of rock concerts with the likes of U2, Foo Fighters and Muse playing here in the past and we're just happy to be part of that. It'll be great to play in Manchester too."

Manchester Lancashire County Cricket Ground - June 16th
London Wembley Stadium - 19th
Paris Parc Des Princes - 26th

Green Day tickets will go on sale on Friday, 6 November, 2009.

The group is also set to play shows in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Australia and Japan in the coming months.

As well as touring, Green Day have been busy getting nominated for a host of honours this year, including favourite alternative rock artist at the American Music Awards.

The band is also in the running for best group, best rock artist and best live act at the MTV Music Awards.
